During the 2016 U.S. Presidential election and especially since Donald Trump became President-elect, tension and frustration between supporters of various political candidates has been high. Before November 8th, most Americans admitted that they would be voting for the "lesser of two evils" on election day. Due to information unearthed about Clinton's shady dealings and the hateful rhetoric that was being spouted by Donald Trump, only about half of the country flocked to the polls to vote.
In a surprising turn of events, Donald Trump was elected to be the next POTUS, despite the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. Once the news was announced, riots sprung up across the U.S., with people protesting that Donald Trump was not their next President. In addition, infuriated citizens made it very clear that one of the biggest losers of the election was the Democratic National Committee (DNC), which purposefully blocked Bernie Sanders from becoming the primary candidate for the Democratic party. Even mainstream media outlets suppose that Sanders would have beaten Trump by at least 15 points.
Regardless, a Trump presidency is now inevitable, and that's a reality Americans and the world have to come to terms with. Considering marijuana was the real winner of the election, it makes sense that more citizens would reach for the herb as they calm their anxiety and contemplate what the next four years might look like under the business tycoon's leadership.
To inspire solidarity and show that Trump, Clinton, and third-party supporters have more similarities than differences, Cut produced a video in which supporters of Stein and the two primary candidates smoke cannabis together.
The video begins by the participants explaining their backgrounds and whom they voted for early in November. After explaining their party affiliations, they each take a hit from a bong. 5 minutes later, they begin answering questions related to politics. The trio also answers questions un-related to politics, and all agree that Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson are awesome, the electoral college is 'bad', and that getting consent before having sex is essential. It's also worth noting that had Bernie Sanders been a primary contender in the race, all three would have voted for the Vermont Senator.
Watch the video below to witness how supporters of various political parties can find common ground and enjoy a good high together:
