Plug-In Volvo XC60 T8 Enters U.S. Next Month With 10.4 kWh Battery
• http://insideevs.com, by Mark KaneThe car is based on the company's SPA vehicle architecture, first used in the 90 series (XC90 and S90). Production of the XC60 actually began in mid-April at the Torslanda Plant in Sweden, but initially for only conventional ICE version…which no one cares about.
The plug-in hybrid T8 is to be available in the U.S. from September in three trim levels (which are over $11,000 more expensive than base T5 ICE). So we look forward to adding it to our, ever more crowded, monthly plug-in sales report for the US.
Prices (base MSRP / after $995 destination and $5,002 federal tax credit):
Momentum: $52,900 / $48,893
R-Design: $56,200 / $52,193
Inscription: $56,700 / $52,693
Whereas, the XC90 T8 starts at $67,800 / $64,210 (incl. $995 and $4,585 tax credit).
The XC 60 T8 Twin Engine version of the SUV is top of the line with 407 hp system output and 5.3 seconds time 0-62 mph (100 km/h).
