Will spring ever show up?

Snow hit New York in the early hours causing chaos for commuter traffic and more than 200 flight cancellations across its three major airports today as up to three inches were dumped on the city

The unexpected snow has caused chaos across New York City after 5.5 inches fell by 10am - the heaviest snowfall since since 1982's record of 9.6 inches 

Snow also brought commuter misery to residents in Washington, Philadelphia, and much of New Jersey

The last time NYC saw light April snow showers was in 2006 but the previous heavy snowfall in April was more than a hundred years ago, on April 3, 1915, when the city was blanketed in ten inches

Winter weather advisories have been issued across the Philadelphia and New York metro areas

New England is expecting up to five inches of snow in some non-urban areas

In comparison, last time this year saw highs of the mid 80s 

A second storm is expected to sweep from northern Rockies to the Midwest and Great Lakes into Wednesday
