In just a few short months, the United States political establishment and the wealthy elitists have gone from denying the existence of the "Deep State," attempting to use propaganda to diminish it's existence by calling it a conspiracy theory, and silencing those who dare to speak out against this "fictional entity," to praising it as the bulwark of the Republic and the resistance against President Donald Trump.
"Thank God for the 'Deep State,'" declared former CIA director John E. McLaughlin at an event this week, describing the diplomats and intelligence officers testifying before the congressional impeachment inquiry as "people who are doing their duty or responding to a higher call," according to a report by RT.
While the majority of media outlets ignored the comment, some of Twitter picked up on the fact that they are no longer hiding the deep state from the public. It now appears that the establishment is relying on the media to ignore this.
McLaughlin's comments were met with applause by the crowd at George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government.
