Innocent cyclist became a burglary suspect-

• https://www.dailymail.co.uk by Lauren Edmonds

Zachary McCoy, 30, learned he was a burglary suspect in Gainesville, Florida, after Google's legal investigations support team sent him a notice

Authorities were requesting that Google provide all of McCoy's information for an ongoing case with a 'geofence warrant'

Geofence is a surveillance tool that virtually analyzes crime scenes by collecting Google location data from everyone in an area

Police can use this information to find suspects or leads in a case

Some advocates argue this is violates constitutional rights and privacy, but authorities said it's helpful to finding criminals

Location records show McCoy riding by the victim's house three days on the day of the crime

He proved to authorities that he was riding his bike, not canvasing the home

McCoy was later removed as a suspect
