Heavy rain and 'life-threatening flooding' hits Miami area and other parts of South Florida

A flash flood emergency has been issued through Wednesday evening for parts of northeastern Miami-Dade County and southeastern Broward County, where officials said "life-threatening flooding" was ongoing and "increasing in severity as additional rounds of heavy rain falls."

"DO NOT DRIVE ON AREA ROADWAYS," the National Weather Service in Miami warned. "Seek higher ground and remain in a safe place until flood waters recede."

Footage reposted on X by the weather service showed the water level reaching up to a vehicle's windows, while another video showed a parking deck filled with high flood waters. "Avoid the bottom floor of parking garages," the weather service said.
