Ron Paul shunned by Taxpayer "protection" group's forum in Iowa

By now Freedom's Phoenix readers have read that the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief are co-sponsoring (also FairTax) a Republican candidates’ forum -- scratch that -- I meant select candidates.   The event will feature Mitt Romney, Tommy Thompson, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, and Tom Tancredo.  Presumably McCain and Rudy turned invitations down since they have declared they are snubbing Iowa. Ron Paul, however, is to be deliberately excluded.

Does anyone see the irony in holding such a forum and excluding the most anti-tax candidate (and a Christian to boot) of the bunch? Kind of like asking some of the candidates their position on Medicare or healthcare in a debate, and not bothering to ask the only physician of the group his expert opinion.

Below is the rankings (lower better) of the conservative National Taxpayer Union of legislators who are running (or rumored to be running) for the Republican presidential seat:

Lowest score reflects candidate voting most in line with National Taxpayers Union (NTU) positions.  Bold yearly rank indicates candidate given that year's NTU "Taxpayer's Friend" Award (between 1999 - 2005).  NOTE: Senators Brownback, McCain and Thompson are ranked out of 100, while Representatives Gingrich, Hunter, Paul and Tancredo are ranked out of 435. Mitt Romney (gov), Tommy Thompson (gov), Jim Gilmore (gov), Mike Huckabee (gov), and Rudy Giuliani (mayor) have no NTU ranking.

I have to wonder if these people are bowing to pressure from someone; someone who knows that if the voters at the forum hear Ron Paul speak on the issues of tax relief and Christian values, he will likely gain their support with ease.
The crooks who run this country need to be stopped. Badly.

I should add that if one wants to consider serious candidates, favorite son Tom Tancredo is polling the same as Ron Paul, and comes from a state with 9 electoral votes, and 46 Republican convention delegates as opposed to Ron Paul with a state with 34 electoral votes and 140 delegates.
