Dr. Ron Paul, the representative from the 14th Congressional District in Texas, announced back in March that he would seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States.
Except for those living in his district, most people at that time had never even heard of Ron Paul. However, beginning with the first republican debates in May, the help of the mainstream media attacks, and the use of the Internet the message that embraces the founder’s philosophy of government where government force is only to be used for defense purposes, not to initiate force against others is being heard by more and more individuals.
Ron Paul states that the function of government is not to create empire, not to use the American military for regime change in other lands, and not to take from one individual or groups of individuals and give to others. Ron Paul believes in the implementation of the United States Constitution, which every government official promises to preserve, protect, and defend. The great document, when followed, keeps government officials at bay and out of the lives of peaceful individuals.
Individuals love their freedom and for the first time in a very long while, they are able to listen to someone on the national scene who espouses the freedom philosophy of the founders. Starting out practically nowhere to be seen on the radar screen, Ron Paul’s poll numbers have inched forward to two percent and now recently in a New Hampshire poll reached eight percent. Ron Paul takes either the first, second, or third position in most straw polls.
On November 5 his campaign set a record $4.3 million raised in a twenty-four hour period, half of the total gained to date, which the mainstream media were forced to take notice. Now even more individuals are hearing about Ron Paul and how he would like to lead this country back to the principles upon which the United States of America was founded, back to the United States Constitution.
The use of the Internet allows for Ron Paul’s name and philosophy to be heard by a vast number of individuals with a minimal of cost. Ronpaul2008.com is a highly clicked on Internet site.
Electing Ron Paul president of the United States may not necessarily change the country overnight, but it would re-direct the country away from empire and toward a republic as called for in the United States Constitution by eliminating the Internal Revenue Service, the income tax, and the Federal Reserve System. A Ron Paul presidency would breathe life into free trade, individual liberty, and allow individuals to keep the income they honestly earn.
Liberty needs resuscitating and Dr. Paul is the prescription. Electing Ron Paul president of the United States would be like taking penicillin for strep throat.
The Ron Paul revolution is every bit as important as the revolution of the founders except it follows the precepts bequeathed by the founders, a peaceful revolution without having to resort to violence. As Ron Paul says, “The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country-to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.”
Sam Adams, a founding father, stated, “ It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.” Ideas have consequences and are much stronger than bullets. Ideas were what brought the Berlin Wall down and ideas are what will transform the United States of America back into the republic it was created to be.
There is to be another gigantic fundraising operation next month. On December 16, 1773, American colonists dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to protest an oppressive tax. On December 16, 2007 American citizens will dump millions of dollars into the Ron Paul presidential campaign to protest the oppressive and unconstitutional inflation tax that has enabled a flawed foreign policy and a costly war that has sacrificed human life overseas and individual liberty at home.
Get on board the Ron Paul train. It is a great ride coming down the track, building steam, and arriving at the Freedom Station next November.
December 4 at the Booth Machinery conference hall at 6:30 pm Dr. Earl Taylor, President of the National Center for Constitutional Studies, will discuss how the founders’ ideas of individual liberty apply to many of today’s world situations.
