His latest sermon, “Creative process in action: The Science
of Effective Living” presents a ‘new’ way of thinking about your spiritual
life. You might name it ‘ancient wisdom’
amalgamated into ‘new thought’. It stems
from the teachings of Dr. Ernest Holmes
and his insightful book: The Science of Mind and Spirit.
“You and the universe,” said Dr. Teel. “It’s for us. It ever expands our good. We are spiritual beings divinely ordained and
eternally blessed. We are one with and ‘in’
God.”
Each Sunday, I sit in the front row of Mile Hi Church—furiously
taking notes to share with an ever-hungry world for a more meaningful spiritual
or religious understanding of this world.
While ancient religions, formed two, three and four thousand years ago,
worked for those ‘tribes’ in that era, they lack the ‘cogency’ needed to apply to our 21st
century world.
However, some of their
ancient ‘truths’ give us guidance.
Therefore, ‘new thought’ religion blends ancient wisdom with newer
understandings.
New thought works for spiritual fulfillment. Life changing ideas mean ‘process’ and ‘co-creation’
with God; through God working and expressing through you. Again, not some big bearded old man sitting
on a throne somewhere in never-never land!
“Remember that consciousness takes form,” said Dr. Teel. “Reality
is based on consciousness to form or experience. All voice gives way to potential. Hermes related that all is mind and every
cause its effect and ever effect is its cause.
Thoughts make our world and divine declaration of God sets it all in motion.”
Remember that God expresses through you so you set anything
and everything in your life into motion or into reality. Having a bad day? How about changing your thoughts?
As Dr. Teel said, “Thoughts thicken into things. You, me, everyone is a unique center of
creative consciousness. We set creation
into motion. The universal power
responds to our minds. Power works on
our thoughts. We can use it.”
As I sat in the pew, I noticed that nothing in that church
revolved around sin or redemption from sin.
Dr. Teel said, “We might say that s.i.n. means ‘self-indulgent nonsense!” Where did that term come from anyway? I think the first ‘sin’ arrived with Adam
eating the apple in the Garden of
Eden. As a critical thinking 21st
century contemplator, I am astounded how humans ‘think’ that such myths
actually carry merit in modern times.
Those ancient tribes created ‘religion’ as a device to deal
with futility and/or other phenomena they didn’t understand. Most myths
erupted from ‘fears’ of the unknown. Today,
we ‘know’ the unknown through science, language, mathematics and critical
understanding. Why not develop a
spiritual or religious paradigm to reflect such knowledge?
Voila! Mile Hi Church
fits the bill! Today, we appreciate that
we may be co-creators of our lives with God working through us. Mile Hi offers educational classes to guide
students toward fruitful and successful lives.
Free of guilt or sin! What a concept!
Induce a new believing
Dr. Teel said, “We’re called to induce a new believing while
we launch new patterns for thinking, understanding and living. We can launch new thinking from our
understanding. Remember that energy
follows action. We can cultivate
creative thinking for our benefit.”
Live the possible today!
If you are a shy person, pretend to be a brave person. It’s all in your mind. Have others show you the way. Spirits got your back. Notice you need not suffer damnation or
salvation. You may accept God’s greater
good by becoming an open channel to the divine.
God’s good expresses through you, as you.
“One life, one intelligence, one power, life divine,” said Dr.
Teel. “Live all possibilities. I choose
to claim the magnificence of myself…love sharing, creativity unfolding, joy
celebrating, deep acceptance of greater expression, and higher quality.”
How about it? Can you
say “Yes” to a new believing and receptive universe?
“The universe says bless you and creates an ever greater
good for you,” said Dr. Teel. “Release to the law of mind; release knowing
it is done.”
Dr. Teel stood back while Jennifer Burnette stepped up, “Gratitude
before me, gratitude behind me, gratitude to the left of me, gratitude to the
right of me, gratitude above me, gratitude below me, gratitude within me,
gratitude all around me…I’m so grateful, I’m so grateful, I’m so grateful.”
“And so it is, so I am and so we are,” said Dr. Teel.
