TSA Detains Traveler Over Comic Book

"The minute I saw the faces of the agents, I knew I was in trouble. The first page of the Unthinkable
script mentioned 9/11, terror plots, and the fact that the (fictional)
world had become a police state. The TSA agents then proceeded to
interrogate me, having a hard time understanding that a comic book
could be about anything other than superheroes, let alone that anyone
actually wrote scripts for comics.

Soldiers arrest Honduran president

More than a dozen soldiers arrested President Manuel Zelaya and
disarmed his security guards after surrounding his residence before
dawn Sunday, his private secretary said. Protesters called it a coup
and flocked to the presidential palace as local news media reported
that MR. Zelaya was sent into exile.

Not what the American people ordered - HR 2749, martial law and the enslavement of their farmers. HR 2749 is a strange bill in many ways. While the other “food safety” bills have been around since winter, allowing for much public discussion on the internet, HR 2749 has only suddenly appeared. It is a mutant conglomeration of the worst of the other bills, with the addition of one very original part " martial law.

Until recently, the TSA has been a domestic legal Guantanamo, and the
TSA has treated their domain of “checkpoints” and travel control and
surveillance as a law-free zone where their powers of search, seizure,
detention, and denial of passage were unconstrained by the
Constitution, human rights treaties,
judicial review, or stautory or regulatory standards. As indeed it has
been: Congress has enacted no law specifically defining any limits on
the authority of TSA agents at checkpoints (or elsewhere), and the TSA
itself has never conducted any rulemaking or issued any
publicly-disclosed regulations defining its authority, its limits, what
orders travellers do or don’t have to comply with, and which forms of
“noncooperation” are considered grounds for which sanctions

OR’s national headquarters yesterday. The suspect in the attack remains

Judge Posner's Dangerous Thinking on Links and the Future of News

Mike Masnick on techdirt points us to some dangerous and incomplete thinking from Judge Richard Posner on his blog. At the bottom, Posner writes:
Expanding copyright law to bar online access to copyrighted materials without the copyright holder’s consent, or to bar linking to or paraphrasing copyrighted materials without the copyright holder’s consent, might be necessary to keep free riding on content financed by online newspapers from so impairing the incentive to create costly news-gathering operations that news services like Reuters and the Associated Press would become the only professional, nongovernmental sources of news and opinion.
