Obamacare to Dump Expensive Elderly in Group Homes
08/02/2009
•
Right Wing News
One of those cost saving measures seems to be a patient dumping plan that will move the elderly away from more expensive medical procedures and place them in an institutionalized "home" setting reminiscent of some bad horror movie mad-house scene.
CNSNews has learned that the House bill proposes to lower hospital visits by older patients by referring them to what is being called a "medical home pilot program." This will be a new sort of institution set up to accept the elderly that isn't staffed with doctors and high cost medical equipment but is instead staffed by nurse practitioners and other less trained personnel.

Is Obama Manipulating Historical Economic Data so His Economy Doesn't Look so Bad?
08.01.2009
•
WizBang
Well, well, well. President Obama is asking his people to revise down the economic numbers from past years so his economic numbers today don't look quite as bad as they are in reality. Because Obama predicted that the economy would begin to come out of its recession by the end of this year, he's got to deliver, especially since so many private sector economists blasted his team's predictions as pie in the sky.
Economic data are expressed through comparisons, i.e. the economy grew or contracted by X% compared to the same period last year. If you want this year's economic numbers to look better than they actually are, then you manipulate the numbers from months and years past that you compare them to. This is what Obama's economic team is doing in order to save the president's butt. Obama now has pointed to those revised numbers and has announced in his Saturday morning video address, "Look our stimulus boondoggle is working! We said the economy would start

Sounds like a threat to me.
Goldman Sachs Group Inc., the bank that makes the most money from commodities, fixed-income and currency trading, said attempts to curb speculation may be “disruptive” to energy markets.
“The role that is played by non-traditional participants such as index investors and other financial participants often has been mischaracterized,” Don Casturo, a Goldman Sachs managing director, said today at a Commodity Futures Trading Commission hearing in Washington.
The testimony was part of the second day of hearings on excessive market speculation and how to respond.

Citizens in the heartland ready to rise up against Congress. Peasants with pitchforks and torches
8/1/09
•
The Examiner
In yesterday's column I wrote that Congress has grown fearful of the citizens. Rather than facing their constituents back home during the summer recess, many Congressmen and Senators have canceled town hall meetings and decided instead to remain hidden.
To be sure, there is nothing particularly wrong with this scenario from a purely American point of view. Our Founders were convinced that once the citizens began to fear their government, the Republic was in deep trouble, and that elected representatives need to have a healthy fear of the electorate.
It has been so long since elected officials in Washington were scared of the people that the present circumstances are bound to come as a shock.
But this wakeup call was sorely needed and long overdue.

Al Gore's Green-Tinged Conflicts Of Interest

His environmentalist advocacy supports his business interests
Al Gore is pretty much the embodiment of what we will all soon be calling the Green-Industrial Complex. Gore is getting rich from environmentalism, not just by being paid a whopping $175,000 per speech but by using political pressure to force government policy in a direction that benefits his business interests.
But Gore is also chairman of a green investment firm called Generation Investment Management, which is a member of the Copenhagen Climate Council, an international collaboration of businesses and science bodies that promotes climate-change mitigation strategies and invests in companies that are environmentally friendly"including firms that produce renewable energy and low-carbon technology. So Gore uses one of his multimillion-dollar organizations"the Alliance for Climate Protection"to put pressure on government to promote the low-carbon lifestyle, which furnishes one of

Obamacare called 'euthanasia bill'

The Democrats' proposed national health insurance plan would dictate medications, treatments and mental health services; determine coverages individuals are allowed to have; and operate with real-time access to personal bank accounts, according to a new analysis.
And it's worse, a critic said, than China's mandatory one-child policy.
"In the same way that the bill pushes elderly or the sick toward euthanasia, it is a pill that would cause economic suicide," said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel. "It's a euthanasia bill for America."

“President Obama should choose one of them.”
Schwartz faults Bernanke for the Fed’s massive easing program.

Now My Niece Understands Gun Rights

Hi Uncle Earnie,
A member of my boyfriends family was recently jumped by two men who
attempted to kill him in Arkansas. They were waiting for him when he was on his
way to work at around 7:30 in the morning. The men attempted to place a cloth
with chemicals over his face and beat him. His wife screamed when she heard the
commotion, and their son was awakened by what was happening. One of the men
started toward the house and his son was forced to shoot at him...the man was
killed. The other tried to flee on foot and even though their victim had been
beaten he managed to get ahold of his own gun and tried to shoot at him. I
thought that this might be of interest to you, because it made think twice in
terms of being able to protect myself. Had they not had any protection who knows
what would have happened to them. Daven.

Closing the 'Collapse Gap': the USSR was better prepared for collapse than the US
Ernest Hancock
Good evening, ladies and
gentlemen. I am not an expert or a scholar or an activist. I am more of
an eye-witness. I watched the Soviet Union collapse, and I have tried
to put my observations into a concise message. I will leave it up to
you to decide just how urgent a message it is.
My talk tonight is about the lack of collapse-preparedness here in
the United States. I will compare it with the situation in the Soviet
Union, prior to its collapse. The rhetorical device I am going to use
is the "Collapse Gap" " to go along with the Nuclear Gap, and the Space
Gap, and various other superpower gaps that were fashionable during the
Cold War.
