Take a picture,...go to jail.

Imagine getting a great photograph of your hunting partner shooting at a pheasant, then finding out it’s illegal to possess that photo.
Imagine going to the video store to rent a copy of your favorite hunting show, only to find the shelves bare. When you ask the clerk where they are, he tells you that the films are now illegal and that you can’t buy or rent them anymore.
This may sound like something out of 1984, but in United States v. Robert J. Stevens, the U.S. Supreme Court will decide this fall if photos like the one above, or video that shows hunters shooting at game, violate a 1999 federal law (18 USC § 48) that bans depictions of animal cruelty.

Jobless Checks for Millions Delayed as States Struggle
07-23-2009
•
NY Times
In a program that values timeliness above all else, decisions
involving more than a million applicants have been slowed, and hundreds
of thousands of needy people have waited months for checks. And
with benefit funds at dangerous lows even before the recession began,
states are taking on billions in debt, increasing the pressure to raise
taxes or cut aid, just as either would inflict maximum pain.

Obamacare for old folks: Just 'cut your life short'
7/22/09
•
Worldnet Daily
Health plan provision demands 'end-of-life' counseling. The version of President Obama's universal health care plan pending in the U.S. House would require "end-of-life" counseling for senior citizens, and the former lieutenant governor for the state of New York is warning people to "protect their parents" from the measure.
At issue is section 1233 of the legislative proposal that deals with a government requirement for an "Advance Care Planning Consultation."
Betsy McCaughey, the former New York state officer, told former president candidate Fred Thompson during an interview on his radio program the "consultation" is no more or less than an attempt to convince seniors to die. More....

Doctors demand Obama apology
7/23/09
•
JP.org
Pitching government control, President falsely accuses doctors of conspiring to make children sicker. Dr. Richard S. Kerr, M.D., a West Virginia Libertarian Party member and a retired doctor with 36 years experience, asked President Barack Obama Thursday to apologize for comments made in his Wednesday night press conference accusing doctors of conspiring to make children sicker for profits.
“President Obama should be ashamed of himself for trying to scare Americans into supporting his government takeover of medicine by falsely accusing doctors of making children sicker. I have never heard a more disgusting or blatantly phony conspiracy theory. We treat our patients with the respect, care and concern you will never find in Obama’s government-run rationed care bureaucracy,” said Dr. Kerr.

More Advertisers Turning To Internet
07-23-2009
•
Mike Sachoff
The majority (92%) of advertisers are using Internet advertising in
their media campaigns followed by print advertising at 88 percent,
according to a new LinkedIn Research Network/Harris Poll.
At the same time, less than half are using radio advertising (46%),
television advertising (46%) and mobile advertising (39%). The Harris poll
found there is a regional difference as advertisers in the South are
more likely to use radio advertising (57%) and television advertising
(56%) while those in the West are least likely to use both (39% each).
Among those advertisers who are using each of these types of media,
there is a difference in the level of usage since last year.
Three-quarters of those who use Internet advertising (74%) say they are
incorporating it more often while 69 percent of those who use mobile
advertising are using it more often compared to a year ago.
Unsurprisingly, the largest drop is with print advertising as half
(49%) of those who

44 Are Charged in New Jersey-Focused Corruption Inquiry
07/23/09

The New York Times
The case apparently began with bank fraud charges against a member of an insular Syrian Jewish enclave centered in the seaside town of Deal, N.J. Eventually, stemming from that arrest, a federal informant posed as a crooked real estate developer offering cash bribes to obtain government approvals " and the case mushroomed into a political scandal that could rival any of the most explosive and sleazy episodes in New Jersey’s recent past.

AK full auto conversion (amazing what you can find on the Internet)
07-23-2009
•
YouTube
DESCRIPTION: Last Friday there has been a topic at AR15.com regarding an AK DIAS (drop in auto sear).
After
reading the initial topic my conclusion was that there is no such thing
(the matter registered or not is beyond this consideration). A search
at the web resulted in the usual rumors: "There had been a guy (decades
ago) who did something like that but never seen any bla bla, yada
yada... Somebody else claimed having done it but wouldn't release any
info...
http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/archive...
All
the other full auto conversions I've seen require drilling, welding,
cutting parts of the guide rails etc. - what is of course not the
meaning of "drop in".
Since I'm interested in facts rather than
rumors and since in principle every semi auto selfloader can be
modified to shoot full auto I decided to build my own device.
In the meantime some people told me they would consider it being a Lightning Link (LL) as

Is ACORN intentionally structured as a criminal enterprise? Some members of Congress think so.
07-23-2009
Republican members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released its report on ACORN, entitled: “Is ACORN Intentionally Structured As a Criminal Enterprise?
This Report presents evidence that ACORN has evaded taxes, obstructed justice, engaged in racketeering, and created a conspiracy to defraud the United States. The chapters read like a criminal indictment and grounds for a lawsuit by its shareholders - here’s some highlights:
voter registration fraud
embezzlement
breaching fiduciary duties by covering up embezzlement
breaching corporate duties by failing to follow bylaws
noncompliance with the IRS; both using tax dollars for political purposes as well as filing false statements with the IRS ..More:

“The morality police are at it again!” Comedy Central’s Stephen
Colbert declared on his show Tuesday night about reports that former
vice president Cheney might be targeted by probes into torture and the
recently exposed CIA hit squad program.
The faux right wing pundit said, “The vice president having his own
assassination squad is no huge surprise. The huge surprise is he didn’t
include cannibalism.”

Obama nominee: Animals can sue people
7/22/09
•
One News Now
A consumer-freedom group says President Obama's nominee for "regulatory czar" is an "animal-rights zealot" who may make life difficult for hunters and meat-eaters.
Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) has placed a hold on the nomination of legal scholar Cass Sunstein to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Budget and Management. Cornyn is worried that the Harvard professor may push an aggressive animal-rights agenda in the White House. Sunstein has argued in favor of outlawing sport hunting and meat-eating, and written that animals should be allowed to file lawsuits "with human beings as their representatives."

Home Depot seeks children at multiple gay pride parades
7/23/09
•
Gather.com
According to the Nashville Gay Pride website, Home Depot gave over $5,000 to be a major sponsor of its 2009 Gay Pride Festival in June. But simply financing the event wasn't enough for the big box chain.
Home Depot also signed on as a vendor, conducting kid's craft workshops for children via a special booth set up just for them.
To this end, Home Depot is basically encouraging the attendance of children at events which openly expose them to transvestites, cross-dressers, and homosexual activities.

Stop Obamacare Now!
7/23/09
•
Ca,[aign forLiberty
By David McKalip, M.D.,
The Majority in Congress and the President are promising to change the "status quo" by pushing a government run-medicine plan (HR 3200). The plan would create rationing through government committees, force all Americans to buy over-priced, politically created health insurance, create an economically unsustainable government-run insurance plan and impose economy-crushing taxes. In fact, the President would break yet another promise by imposing a 2.5% income tax on each person who refused to buy government improved insurance.
