Obama's health care plan helped by drug industry
08/08/2009  •  SRN News
The nation's drugmakers stand ready to spend $150 million to help President Barack Obama overhaul health care this fall, according to numerous officials, a staggering sum that could dwarf attempts to derail his chief domestic priority. The White House and allies in Congress are well aware of the effort by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, a somewhat surprising political alliance. The campaign, now in its early stages, includes television advertising under PhRMA's own name and commercials aired in conjunction with the liberal group, Families USA. Numerous people with knowledge of PhRMA's plans said they had been told it would likely reach $150 million and perhaps $200 million. Additionally, the industry is the major contributor to Healthy Economy Now, which recently completed a $12 million round of advertising nationally and in several states. The ads were made by companies with close ties to Democrats and the White House and generally reflected the adm  Read Full Story

Why Is Obama's Top Antitrust Cop Gunning for Google?

The last time the government saw a threat like this"Microsoft in the 1990s"it launched an aggressive antitrust case. But by the time of this conference, mid-June 2008, a new offender had emerged. "For me, Microsoft is so last century," Varney said. "They are not the problem. I think we are going to continually see a problem, potentially, with Google."

Will Media Investigate Astroturf Recruitment At Craigslist?
08/10/2009  •  Newsbusters
While the media pointed their hypocritical fingers at town hall meeting protesters for supposedly being organized by conservative backers, they've conveniently ignored an aggressive recruiting campaign by liberal organizations looking to help President Obama get his agenda through Congress. Take for example the following advertisement placed at the online website Craiglist for New York City Monday (h/t Patrick Ruffini): **TALENTED LEADERS needed to work for health care reform $11-16/hour** Or how about some of these identified by Dr. Melissa Clouthier Sunday for Sacramento, California (h/t Walt Gilbert):  Read Full Story

Scientists Track Down Source of Earth’s Hum
08-09-2009  •  Wired

You can’t hear it, but the Earth is constantly humming. And some parts of the world sing louder than others.

After discovering the mysterious low-frequency buzz in 1998, scientists figured out that the Earth’s hum is caused not by earthquakes or atmospheric turbulence, but by ocean waves colliding with the seafloor. Now, researchers have pinpointed the source of the Earth’s “background noise,” and it looks like it’s coming primarily from the Pacific coast of North America.

HR 3394, The Health Information Protection Act, inhibits the FTC from acting against any entity for communicating the health benefits of its products unless the FTC presents "clear and convincing" evidence that those statements are false. In concordance with the Fifth Amendment, the burden of proof concerning an accusation of a false claim is to fall upon the accuser (FTC) to determine, with legitimate evidence, that a claim is false before demanding its removal. As it stands, the FTC has reversed the Fifth Amendment by preemptively and arbitrarily restraining communication without any evidence or reason while demanding that the accused party prove its claim to be true. HR 3394 will reinforce the already lawful Fifth Amendment that establishes the burden of proof upon the FTC to present a legitimate case before impeding any lawful communication. It will restore the freedom to communicate nutrient-disease health claims freely. Similarly to HR 3394, HR 3395, The Health Freedom  Read Full Story

Debt Burden to Weigh on Stocks Consumers' Inability to Drive Economic Growth Likely to End Big
08/10/2009  •  WSJ
Since Americans are BROKE here is a thought stop LOOTING them to pay for Foreign Aid and Socialist programs! Economists are boosting growth forecasts. Employment numbers are improving. Manufacturing activity is bottoming. Housing demand is strengthening. Business leaders are starting to say the worst may be over. Markets are celebrating, hoping the good news will keep on coming. But there is a smudge on the picture. A surprisingly large number of money managers and economists are warning that, despite the hopeful signs, the economy is still deep in the woods, not strong enough to support a long-running stock and bond recovery. The Dow Jones Industrial Average now has jumped 43% from the 12-year low hit March 9. It finished Friday at 9370.07, its highest close since Nov. 4. Risky credit investments, such as junk bonds and even mortgage-backed securities, also have been recovering. "The question now is, 'Where do we go from here?' Our Unconstitutional Census California could get nine House seats it doesn’t deserve because illega
08/09/2009  •  WSJ
Next year’s census will determine the apportionment of House members and Electoral College votes for each state. To accomplish these vital constitutional purposes, the enumeration should count only citizens and persons who are legal, permanent residents. But it won’t. Instead, the U.S. Census Bureau is set to count all persons physically present in the country"including large numbers who are here illegally. The result will unconstitutionally increase the number of representatives in some states and deprive some other states of their rightful political representation. Citizens of “loser” states should be outraged. Yet few are even aware of what’s going on.  Read Full Story

Six-thirty on a Sunday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona.  My wife and I are on our two-hour walk and far from home.  Cell phone rings.  Our 18-year-old son Chris is on the phone to tell us that he was out running in the neighborhood and was bitten by a dog that was being walked by its owner.

We tell him to get the owner’s name, phone number and the dog’s shot record, and then to go home and wash out the wound and put antiseptic on it.

After doing that, he calls back and thinks he might need to see a doctor.  Thanks to American health-care, we are able to tell him that

The starting point for all analysis of the ongoing bailout orgy that is currently being used in crony capitalist fashion to transfer wealth from our middle class to the Illuminati and their transnational conglomerates is whether these bailouts are authorized by the US Constitution. Bonus Promises Trump Public’s Anger at Bankers
08/07/2009  •  Bloomberg
Well of course BO will not want to support something like this after all the payouts er I mean "contributions" he received from the Banks! Many of us pay taxes to governments that bailed out banks whose risks robbed our retirement funds. We tend to not look happily on big fat bonuses said banks then pay to their folks. Some 5,000 employees took home bonuses of at least $1 million. That may not be much on Wall Street, but for most Americans that’s about what they’ll see in 20 years. Median household income in the U.S. came to $50,233 back in good ol’ 2007, the U.S. Census Bureau reports. And that’s the figure for the entire annual income for the whole household. A House bill passed last week would authorize the SEC and bank regulators to bar pay practices that encourage excessive risk-taking and threaten economic health. Fear of too much government intervention will make it tougher going in the Senate. President Barack Obama isn’t inclined to support it, either.  Read Full Story

So, is there a reasonable case for peaceful secession? Is separation a reasonable means an end, whereas that end is; the revival of freedom; a firm rejection of a tyrannical, corrupt and complex Federal system; a return to the founding principles and Constitution; and revival of the world’s most prosperous nation? Be prepared for a fight. Simply opposing Washington on health care reform has stirred the ire of the elite political class. Americans exercising their freedom of speech and right to assemble, the most fundamental of American traditions, are being demonized. They are accused of false protest and berated as puppets of the political right.  Read Full Story
