Cold-Blooded Murder: Israeli-Style Justice

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Pre-dawn on Thursday, Israeli forces burst into the Jarrar family home violently in Jenin.

They murdered Khamed Nasser Jarrar in cold-blood, son of Nasr Jarrar, murdered by Israeli forces in 2002 during the second intifada. Now the son is gone - he, his father, and countless other Palestinians victims of Israeli ruthlessness.

Other Jarrar family members were arrested and detained. Soldiers detonated their home, partly destroying two neighboring ones, a military bulldozer leveling the remains to rubble.

After the demolitions, soldiers continued firing live rounds. They refused to let medical workers and ambulances enter the area.

Protests erupted after Jarrar's killing. Soldiers attacked Palestinians with tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and live fire, several injuries reported.

Jarrar was suspected of killing settler Raziel Shevach in a drive-by shooting. Just societies arrest suspects, affording them due process and judicial fairness.

Palestinians are denied fundamental rights. Guilt by accusation is longstanding Israeli policy. So is collective punishment.

One or more unknown assailants lethally shot Shevah. Jarrar won't get his day in court to confess or contest charges against him. Dead men tell no tales.

Following the incident, a Hamas statement said "the heroes in Jenin broke the equation of surrender that Israel has tried to impose on the Palestinians in the West Bank."

Netanyahu praised the killer soldiers, saying "(w)e will reach anyone who tries to harm Israeli citizens in the state of Israel."

Ultranationalist defense minister Avigdor Lieberman said "terrorists cannot hide. We will capture terrorists everywhere."

Israel considers Palestinians justifiably resisting occupation harshness "terrorists," even young children, an 11-year-old arrested on Tuesday for alleged stone-throwing.

During Monday peaceful protests near Jayous village, northeast of Qalqilyah, Israeli forces lethally shot Abdel Jabbar Mohammed Salim. Live fire striking the back of his head killed him.

Witnesses said he was shot at close range. Salim was a former political prisoner, a student at al-Quds Open University, running his own restaurant in Jayous village - gunned down unaccountably in cold blood for exercising his right of free expression and assembly.

Was Jarrar responsible for Shevah's killing? We'll never know. The fate of others arrested for the crime is sealed - guilty by accusation.

Extremist agricultural minister Uri Ariel was quoted saying "(i)t is time for there to be injuries and deaths" in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Many other Israeli officials are just as vicious. Palestinian lives and welfare don't matter.

Netanyahu's ruthless regime operates unaccountably, flagrantly breaching international law, giving no quarter.
