Israel's Genocidal Agenda

Israel's Genocidal Agenda

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Israel's master plan calls for maximum Jews and minimum Arabs in historic Palestine.

Its final solution — by whatever it takes to achieve it — includes mass murder and forced displacement of defenseless Palestinians.

Accountability never followed 73 years of Nuremberg-level high crimes.

They continue endlessly because of US/Western support for its show-no-mercy genocidal agenda.

Israel is also revanchist. The only nation without official borders aims to redraw the Middle East map to extrajudicially annex more territory from neighboring states — along with wanting regional countries balkanized for easier control.

For the fourth time since 2008, Israel is waging full-scale preemptive war on two million besieged Gazans.

Trapped in the world's largest open-air prison, Israel has full control over its borders, airspace and offshore waters.

Since May 10, the Netanyahu regime has been terror-bombing and shelling Gazan residential areas, massacring civilians in cold blood.

The toll through the weekend approaches 200 killed, thousands wounded — including from state-sponsored terror in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In 2016, the US-based Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) discussed "(t)he genocide of the Palestinian people (from) an international law and human rights perspective," saying the following:

"Prominent (truth-telling) scholars of the international law crime of genocide and human rights authorities take the position that Israel's policies toward the Palestinian people…constitute a form of genocide."

"Those policies range from the 1948 mass killing and displacement of Palestinians to (over) a half-century of military occupation and, correspondingly, the discriminatory legal regime governing Palestinians, repeated military assaults on Gaza, and official Israeli statements expressly favoring the elimination of Palestinians."

CCR explained that legal scholars distinguish genocide from other forms of war, violence, and related actions, adding:

"Genocidal action aims not just to contain, control, or subordinate a population, but to shatter and break up its social existence."

"Thus genocide is defined, not by a particular form of violence, but by general and pervasive violence."

"Numerous prominent human rights authorities, advocates, and scholars (maintain) that Israel's policies and actions with respect to the Palestinian people have amounted to a form of genocide."

In 1944, legal scholar Raphael Lemkin coined the term genocide, explaining it as follows:

"More often (it) refers to a coordinated plan aimed at destruction of the essential foundations of the life of national groups so that these groups wither and die like plants that have suffered a blight," adding:

"The end may be accomplished by the forced disintegration of political and social institutions, of the culture of the people, of their language, their national feelings and their religion."

"It may be accomplished by wiping out all basis of personal security, liberty, health and dignity."

"When these means fail, the machine gun can always be utilized as a last resort."

"Genocide is directed against a national group as an entity and the attack on individuals is only secondary to the annihilation of the national group to which they belong."

Separately, Nuremberg Tribunal Chief Justice Robert Jackson called aggression — what's ongoing in Gaza for the 4th time — "the supreme international crime against peace…the greatest menace of our times," defined as:

"(P)lanning, preparation, initiation, or waging of wars of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing."

The Tribunal defined crimes against humanity to include "murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war; or persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in the execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated."

From its 1947-48 war of aggression on indigenous Palestinians to the present day, Israel is guilty of all of the above.

Law Professor Francis Boyle and Israeli historian Ilan Pappe long ago accused Israel of committing slow-motion genocide against the Palestinian people.

Years earlier, Pappe explained the following:

"A genocide is taking place in Gaza."

"An average of eight Palestinians die daily in the Israeli attacks on the Strip."

"Most of them are children."

"Hundreds are maimed, wounded and paralyzed."

It's "a daily business, now reported (only) in the internal pages of the local press, quite often in microscopic fonts."

"The chief culprits are the Israeli pilots who have a field day" committing mass murder with impunity.

"(I)ncremental genocide" is all about destroying Palestinians as a national group in similar fashion to what colonial America and their descendants did to Native Americans.

Boyle earlier explained "Israel has indeed perpetrated the international crime of genocide against the Palestinian people."

From inception, "the Israeli government and its predecessors in law – the Zionist agencies, forces, and terrorist gangs – have ruthlessly implemented a systematic and comprehensive military, political, religious, economic, and cultural campaign with the intent to destroy in substantial part the national, ethnical, racial, and different religious group (Jews versus Muslims and Christians) constituting the Palestinian people."

He urged its leadership to sue Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ — World Court).

Former CCR President Michael Ratner also accused Israel of committing "incremental genocide" against the Palestinian people.

"There's no doubt" about it, he explained, adding:

"It's been going on" since forced displacement and mass murder of Palestinians in 1947-48 "that continued from that time until today."

"It's correct and important to label it for what it is."

"I want to emphasize today (that) these killings are part of a broader set of inhuman acts by Israel constituting international crimes, carried out by Israel" from inception.

"They include crimes that aren't talked about that much in the media or the press, the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and apartheid."

"These crimes can be prosecuted in the International Criminal Court and are defined there."

The Russell Tribunal on Palestine exposed and condemned Israeli human rights abuses that stem from its illegal occupation — stressing that facts it presented are "incontrovertible."

Stressing as well that "(p)eace, stability and democracy in (Palestine) are impossible under occupation."

The UN General Assembly "repeatedly recognized" the rights of "peoples who are fighting against colonial domination and alien occupation and against racist regimes in the exercise of their right of self-determination (to) have the right to use force to accomplish their objectives within the framework of international humanitarian law."

Force is a legitimate form of self-defense against subjugation under illegal occupation.

From inception, Israel has been a serial human rights/international law abuser on an industrial scale.

The UN Human Rights Commission earlier accused the Jewish state of breaching virtually all Fourth Geneva articles — pertaining to the protection of civilians in times of war.

The Commission also determined that as an occupying power, Israel is guilty of crimes against humanity as defined by Nuremberg Principles.

Monday May 17 is day-eight of Israel's — US/Western-supported — genocidal war of aggression on two million Gazan civilians.

Terror-bombing and shelling residential areas continue as in previous Israeli preemptive wars on the Strip.

On Sunday, a Security Council session on Israeli aggression failed to agree on a joint statement because the Biden regime and its Western co-conspirators blocked condemnation of Israeli mass slaughter and destruction of Gaza.

A Final Comment

A same-day article discusses Francis Boyle's November 2012 testimony on the laws of war before the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal Commission that accused Israel of committing genocide against the Palestinian people.
