Band's Stunt Shuts Down 101 Freeway

• NBC News

Traffic on the 101 Freeway was at a standstill Tuesday after a publicity stunt involving a group of musicians.

At about 10:30 a.m., a box truck owned by Imperial Stars parked sideways across three lanes on the southbound side of the freeway near Sunset Boulevard. Dispatchers received 911 reports of a vehicle parked in the middle of the freeway and musicians performing on the roof, according to CHP.

yeah uh, OBJECTION!

People always want to disrupt traffic to gain attention. Works great. Small problem. Let's say you are the guy who called the fire dept or ambulance. Let's say it's your kid or wife or daughter's life on the line and every second counts. What are you thinking about the "political message" now? Not much except you'd kill the guys doing it if you could and if you thought it would help.

The concept itself is violative of libertarian principles: do what you want but DO NO HARM. As activists, it's up to us to consider the consequences of our actions to others. And I hope common sense continues to inform us that "disruptive actions" almost always just hurt people like you and me; case in point, the people we want to send a message to by disrupting traffic all have helicopters.

just chew on that tobacco for a minute and tell me how it tastes.
