Over the last decade, the world experienced unprecedented climate change, a new report from the
United Nations reveals. In particular, the UN cited high-impact extremes, noting that more national temperature records were broken during the last decade than during any previous decade. The report, entitled
The Global Climate 2001-2010, A Decade of Extremes, reveals important information about our rapidly changing climate and points to changes in the last decade that could greatly affect the Earth’s population.
It did not surprise climate observers that the 21st century was warmer than any previously measured decade since temperature recording began in the 1850s.
