New Cafe Chain Allows Customers To Pay What They Want For Salvaged Food
• http://www.trueactivist.comThe Real Junk Food Project is a chain of cafes that allows customers to pay whatever they want, for well-prepared food that would have otherwise been sent to the landfill. The company actually intercepts food that is edible, but for various reasons was discarded by other places and would have went to waste.
This allows them to provide the food without a set price, allowing customers to pay whatever they think the meal is worth, or whatever they can afford. The company is based out of the UK, where founder Adam Smith started the first cafe in December of 2013.
Just a few short years later there are now 47 similar cafes worldwide. There are even now locations as far as Warsaw and Los Angeles, Brazil, and Zurich.
"It is bringing people from different demographics together that doesn't involve money. People are opening Junk Food Projects because they have had enough of what is going on in society and care about what is happening to other human beings. It is a revolution," Smith told the Independent.
