A former mob associate claims Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz allegedly looked the other way as a sophisticated scheme akin to a mafia operation defrauded federal welfare programs in his state.

Former Colombo crime family caporegime Michael Franzese – who was convicted of organized crime and served nearly a decade in prison, but has since turned his life around – says the Minnesota Somali scam is cut and dry, adding it's highly unlikely Walz was unaware.

"I ran one of the biggest gas?tax scams this country had ever seen, so I know what an organized operation looks like," Franzese captioned his report on X.

"What I see in Minnesota isn't 'sloppy paperwork.' It's a Somali mafia?style network: shell companies, fake centers, recycled addresses, money moved into cars, houses, and businesses, all built on weak government oversight and politicians who looked the other way."

Franzese's explanation was highlighted by President Donald Trump on Truth Social Thursday morning.
