My 85th Birthday Prayer

My 85th Birthday Prayer

and

The entering of my Sixty-fourth year into the Gospel Ministry

by

Dr. Greg J. Dixon

On this day of my Lord May 02, 2017 I want to pause to give thanks to my wonderful Lord for His marvelous grace toward me.  First for saving my soul and then counting me faithful and putting me into the gospel ministry.  When I think back over my life at the times that God has protected me from physical harm, even times when I should have died, in one instance by drowning, another by a car accident and yet other times by several severe operations, I should have not lived to be eighty-five.

And then when I think of the times that He has intervened in my life when I was being enticed by evil, even the Old Serpent, Satan himself, and it seemed, in a miraculous way, God moved in and literally kept me from destroying my life.  I can as the Psalmist said, "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities."

Having said this, I would like to repeat what the Psalmist also prayed when he said at Psa 71:17 – 18 - O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

V - 18  Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
