Dark storm clouds gather in financial sector
08-29-2009
•
The Examiner
Obama and his minions would love for us to believe that 'recovery is just around the corner,' and 'we are on the brink of a rebound,' and other such nonsense.
Indeed, the stock market seems to back them up.
However, the stock market was up significantly in the months leading up to the big crash of 1929. This is no indication that a train-wreck isn't about to occur.
Troubling storm clouds are gathering in several sectors of the economy. First, the ever-growing load of debt the country is carrying will prevent any significant recovery. The debt is simply too high, too staggering, too mind-boggling.
In other words we are headed for a financial meltdown of historic proportions while the country is being governed by inept, sophomoric lamebrains who have their heads stuck so far into the sand they can practically see China.
We still have time to thwart the crisis provided action is taken immediately. Here is a final warning from GATA:

Much to my amazement, I find myself in agreement with Nancy Pelosi’s recent comment about the Astroturf quality of the recent town hall meetings being held around the country. I recently had the misfortune to witness this Astroturf up close and personal as I attended what was purported to be a town hall meeting, at the Community Church of Joy in Glendale, Arizona, in which Congressman Trent Franks would supposedly be providing some straight answers to some difficult questions put forth by a growing number of disenchanted Americans.

G-20's road to Pittsburgh began in N.H. woods

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
It was Bretton Woods that marked the system of global economic
planning that created the world economy and the summits that go with it.
"It really was an important foundation to the economic coordination
we have today," said Mr. Coons, who joined a dozen other experts last
month for a commemorative discussion on the 1944 "United Nations
Monetary and Financial Conference" held at the New Hampshire resort.

The Duplicity of Ben Bernanke
08-30-2009
•
Mises Institute
Consider Mr. Bernanke's track record against his stated goals as Fed chairman. In opposition to his predecessor, Alan Greenspan, Bernanke said that he would communicate clearly and openly with the investment community. This, he said, would remove an element of uncertainty for investors.
However, it didn't take long for him to do an about-face on this issue. He learned that even the smallest utterance could shake markets. Today he embraces the jargon and ambiguities of his forerunner.
Barack Obama, whose presidential campaign focused on a more open and transparent government, seems untroubled by Mr. Bernanke's repeal of his own earlier plea for increased transparency.

FDIC Walks a Tightrope
08-30-2009
•
Lew Rockwell
This past quarter American banks have set aside billions of dollars against non-performing home loans (foreclosures). One of the objectives is to have reserves that equal 100% of problem loans, but American banks fall far short of that goal.
Bair’s agency has $13.3 trillion of assets to protect. But her reserve treasure chest has shrunk to around $10.4 billion, certainly not enough to bear the brunt of a thousand failed banks. Any day the FDIC could deplete its insurance fund and have to tap into a line of credit at the US Treasury (which is also insolvent and needs $1.8 trillion to meet this year’s US budgetary obligations).
The FDIC has up to $500 billion at its disposal, but this is not likely to be money loaned from other sources but rather newly printed money that would fan the flames of inflation. So for now, the FDIC is holding off the inevitable.
If Americans discover the true dire state of American banks, this might trigger a massive bank run, so the agency plods slow

Is there anyone out there who needs any more proof that the usurper that sits illegally in the President’s chair in the Oval Office of the White House is, bit by bit, piece by piece, and day by day, in the process of totally destroying the democratic republic that once was the United States?
With 80 percent of the communications network of this country shut down, for all intents and purposes, regarding reports on anything that is not popular with that usurper, you might say that they are in his back pocket. And for him, the usurper that is, if and when he reaches his goal of making America a pawn of the corrupt and dangerous United Nations he won’t have to declare the names of the totalitarian state run news and broadcast services as they will already be in place.
ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC are all completely in the bag for the socialist/communist, liberal Democrats, as directed by their Commissar of Finance, George Soros. B. Hussein Obama will be the Grand Ruler of all World te

Why does the obama administration seek to control the Internet?

I found this over at The Golden Truth but he had a lousy title so I didn't think many would read it since most are aware now that there are plans in the works so I retitled it to bring it to your attention since the article resonated with me what do you think?
First Amendment Killer?
My view on this is that the Government is getting more concerned about the growing unrest with the Government's failure to reign in the growing corruption in our banking and political systems and is looking for ways to limit the dissemination of information to the public by cutting off Internet access. Given the low probability of terrorism from sources external to the country, I would suspect that this means that the Government is increasingly concerned about how the public would respond to another massive banking crisis. Please note that the Patriot Act enables to the President to regard banking and financial market disruptions as "security threats."

The FED Dances as Rome Burns
08-30-2009
•
Towne For Congress
In a 47-page judgement, U.S. District Judge Lorena Preska recently ruled that the Federal Reserve, America's quasi-private central bank, must reply to Bloomberg News's request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by August 31st.
The senior legal counsel for the FED, Ms. Yvonne Mizusawa, claims that the Fed and U.S. banks would suffer irreparable harm if details of the loan programs were made public. The claim was initially filed by Bloomberg last year during the public outcry following October's Banker Bailout. So far the names of the recipients of over $2 Trillion USD in off-balance sheet transactions are secret.
The FED has the authority to create new money by writing a check on itself, a power that has been described as creating money "out of thin air." More details can be learned from this mini-series, "Fractional Reserve Banking in Pictures PART 1/2" and "Yes, Virginia, There Are No Reserve Requirements PART 2/2."

American Banking News
Feinberg’s first task is to review proposed compensation plans from the seven U.S. banks still taking part in the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The banks have to submit plans for their top 25 highest paid employees. Some of the institutions submitting proposals are American International Group (NYSE: AIG), Citigroup (NYSE: C) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).
There is also an interesting question of conflict of interest. Three of the firms submitting proposals to him are clients of his law firm. However, in legal filings Feinberg was listed as a court appointed neutral mediator and did not represent the firms in any way.
Fienberg does his own personal banking with Bank of America, Wells Fargo’s Wachovia and UBS. He also serves on the boards of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and Human Rights First.

The world's first truly dual-screen laptop, which will allow computer users to multi-task while on the move, is due to go on sale by the end of the year.

While growing numbers of office workers " especially in the financial industries " use several desktop monitors to track many programmes and information sources at the same time, no manufacturer has yet released a portable equivalent.

I doubt this will be available under obama care or now kennedy care (kennedy care which will inevitably become known as Kopechne Care) those forcibly enrolled in that plan will have the Diet Police and it will most likely be pretty expensive because the truth so many do not want to face is it takes years and lots of $$$ to develop these drugs so I assume it will be for the Elites. Something else to consider if not for the profit to continue research will new drugs that can truly aid mankind continue to be developed? In any case I thought this was quite interesting in that it has many other benefits in addition to the obvious.

Heated Controversy: Do firefighters believe 9/11 conspiracy theories?
08-29-2009
•
www.slate.com/
In the new season of the FX drama Rescue Me, firefighter Franco Rivera espouses the belief that 9/11 was "an inside job." According to a Sunday New York Times article,
the show's writers added this assertion because actor Daniel Sunjata is
a "truther"; but the real firefighters on set"who work as script
advisers"were offended by his allegations. This got the Explainer
wondering: Do any firefighters believe in 9/11 conspiracy theories?
Yes. There's no evidence that firefighters buy into 9/11 conspiracy
theories at higher rates than the rest of the population. (A 2007 Zogby
poll found that 26 percent of Americans believe the government "let it happen." A 2006 Scripps-Howard poll found it was more than a third.)
But some firemen do believe the government was behind 9/11 and use
their status as first responders to draw attention to their statements.
The most common conspiracy theory held by firefighters is that the Twin To

Cap And Trade Will Be Huge For Investment Banking
08-29-2009
•
The Business Insider
It will be HUGE for people like gore too the rest of us will pay through the nose! Now the story...
The cap and trade bill will be huge business for investment banks, leading to a boom in M&A and underwriting activity, says Kyle Stock on the WSJ's Deal Journal blog.
In particular, U.S. industrial companies will begin to look more attractive to companies in Europe, which has had a carbon market since 2005. While the U.S. power market has long looked good to foreigners, because Americans buy a relatively large amount of electricity per-capita and the regulatory structure here lends itself to rate increases, European companies have shied away from acquisitions because of the carbon question mark. They would likely be bolder if carbon had a price and a fixed supply.

Audio Flashback: Eric Holder advocated for internet censorship
08-29-2009
•
Washington Times
Video at site
Recent revelations from C-Net News, showing a bill proposed by Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) giving the president emergency control of the internet, exploded on to the Dudge Report yesterday.:
The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.
it is important to look back at some statements President Obama's top enforcer in his administration made back in the days of Clinton. Attorney General Eric Holder was known as Deputy Attorney General Holder in April of 1999, when the Columbine High School massacre shocked the country.(AUDIO ABOVE)

Residents near a southern Arizona checkpoint have complained that
illegal immigrants and smugglers are flooding their community as they

Gross Negligence at the Fed. The drama unfolds slowly at first, so be patient and please watch it in its entirety. First-term (anti-bailout candidate) Democrat Alan Grayson questions Elizabeth Coleman, Inspector General of the Federal Reserve. There's no doubt we face an uphill battle, but if we are to have any realistic shot of breaking Wall Street's hold over Washington, it's going to happen through awareness. It's that simple. The more that voters learn about these abuses, the more noise we can all make. And you are making that happen with your emails. I've been amazed. Thank you!

Nation's Unemployment Outlook Improves Drastically After Fifth Beer
08-29-2009
•
The Onion
Despite ongoing economic woes and a jobless rate that has been approaching 10 percent, U.S. unemployment projections drastically improved Monday after the consumption of five beers.
"It's going up," leading economist David Singleton said confidently, indicating the predicted growth in jobs with an upward wave of a Bud Light bottle. "All the way up. By the end of the month. No problem."
Singleton said the economy would begin its rebound once employers realized that there were many currently unemployed skilled laborers across the country who would "bust their asses" in a number of growing fields.
"Whether it's manufacturing, finance, hospitality, or manufacturing, these dudes trying to reenter the workforce right now have awesome skill sets and, most of all, they really deserve it," he said. "They're great, great guys. All of them."
According to analysts, both long- and short-term forecasts showed signs of reco

In all the inevitable hoopla surrounding the coming anniversary of “Lehman weekend” " those fateful days in mid-September 2008, when the financial world seemed on the brink of collapse " here’s an important event that will almost surely be overlooked:
On Sept. 18, just a few days after the anniversary, the Treasury Department will end a program that essentially gave the same kind of protection to money market investors that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation gives to bank depositors. The government guaranteed that investors wouldn’t lose a penny.
