Mesa, Arizona: Support Tom Rawles tonight

Written by Subject: Events: Arizona
Some of us will be attending the Mesa City Council Meeting (before 5:45p.m.) tonight to support Tom Rawles’ opposition to the Iraq War by remaining seated during the Pledge of Allegiance. I do not plan to be there longer than it takes those of us there to plan where we are meeting for coffee later.

Here is the information for others so inclined:

Study Session for Council Members starts at 5:00pm, which we don't care about.

The opening “ceremonies”, including the pledge, for the Public meeting is at 5:45pm. So plan on being there before, and front row, center if space is available.

Hell, no! I wouldn't support anyone for any cause if they are unwilling to pledge allegiance to our flag. Such a person is a lot closer to enemy than he is to disagreeable friend. Tom Rawles needs to do what he was elected to do, and that doesn't include grandstanding on an issue not even remotely concerned with his job. Either that, or he needs to resign his post and then he can grandstand all he wants to.
