Atheists for Christmas, a new organization devoted to turning the tide in the current social "War on Christmas" has just sprung into being.

Garrett Michael Hayes, founder of "Atheists for Christmas", announced, "As of trhis moment it's just me.  Next year at this time, it might STILL be just me.  Or tomorrow it might be 10,000 Atheists around the world - I don't know.  But it's time for at least one Atheist to stand up and say, 'Enough!'  Stop pounding on Christmas."

Hayes explained, "I founded this group because I just couldn't take it anymore.  Day after day after day, I hear radio interviews with strident Atheists dissing Christmas.  and I see TV spots about this or that place that's converting their Christmas Parade to a 'Holiday Procession' because someone might be 'offended'."

"I don't know how many of us are out here - Atheists who are comfortable enough in our beliefs to mainatin them without having to drown out the other side.  But now we've got a place to meet and talk and do whatever we can to let an American tradition remain an American tradition."

"There's this pesky document called the 'Consitution of the United States', that sets some safeguards on what can be done to someone because of their religious belief.  The First Amendment to that document protects my right to be an Atheist and to express that belief.  But guess what, Mr & Mrs Christian?  It's YOUR First Amendment too.  So have your Christmas exactly as YOU want it.  Atheists for Christmas has your back."
