I saw nothing in this article to recommend CopperCard that hasn't already been tried by Liberty Dollar and egold, both of which were destroyed by government action. The only Liberty Dollars that are still useful are the silver ones in my pocket. The paper ones are as useless as Federal Reserve Notes. Electronic gold/silver transfers are or can be shut down in an instant.

As much as I like the concept of electronic trades, the only way that I see to keep government out of my transactions is to use the metal coins that I carry in my pocket--which, of course, precludes electronic trading.

The article, near the end, illustrates how the CopperCardBank operates: someone called a "Guardian" sets the price of your old car. Do you get to withdraw "dollars" right away and take them to your shoebox under your bed? This is not clear, but if so, where did the "dollars" come from? When does your car go until someone buys it at the CopperCard Guardian's appraisal price? All of this with no fees? Doubtful.
