What a ridiculous title! Root isn't saying he wants more government.

Did the move from outright prohibition of alcohol to legalizing and taxing it constitute more government? Not in my book. It constituted more freedom for individuals. Not absolute freedom, but a whole lot more freedom than before.

The same logic holds for medical pot and Internet gambling. The move from outright prohibition to legalized and taxed is exactly the same - freedom will increase if it happens.

The world isn't black and white. It's shades of grey. Until libertarians embrace that concept, they will continue to do more damage than good to increasing liberty in America.

Don, you are a case study in doublethink.

You're right Donna. This gink just doesn't seem to get it. Raise more "revenue?" How about eliminating government spending and reducing taxes?

I, in my geezerliness, can remember when the total federal budget was 76 billion dollars -- it's now . . . what, more than fourty times that much?

Anarcho-libertarians who believe that our government might legalize marijuana and not tax it are disconnected from reality. I'm not a big fan of Wayne Root, but he recognizes the limits of what can be achieved in the real world, the world where those who run the government have the power thus make the rules. Recognizing the reality of politics, Root simply advocates for more individual liberty. What's wrong with that?

Government is going to exist whether we like it or not. Anyone who believes otherwise is simply kidding themselves.

I bet Root is from either 'Arizona/Songbird",or,"Nevada/Reid"...maybe Texas/Perry...one of those Anti American states for sure.
