Can we maybe shine some light on Green Card and H2 workers? We know how deleterious illegal immigrants have been to the lower wage spectra (skewed them all DOWN) but what about our IT people and engineers getting the run-around? Seems like that has more impact on "the vanishing middle class".

This argument is based on the socialist concept of wealth.  According to this world view, wealth is static.  It is a pie over which everyone is fighting for a piece.  In truth, wealth is created by individuals and, therefore, infinite.  The same is true of jobs.  Jobs are created in an economy.  There is not a set number of jobs over which everyone is fighting.  The problem that we currently face is the result of government intervention in the market.  Social welfare attracts the unproductive.  Minimum wage skews the job market in favor of those to whom the law does not apply ("undocumented" workers).  Since labor is fungible, when someone will do the job for less money than someone else, he is not "taking that job away" from the original worker.  He is lowering the cost of the job, making products less expensive.  Yes, the original worker loses that particular job, but he can learn the skills (if he does not already have them) to get a job which is more productive.  Should we outlaw technological advancements and machines since they too put people out of work?  The goal of an economy should be productivity, not jobs.  If not, everyone could find work digging ditches and filling them back up again.

The immigration "problem" is being solved by economic deterioration; fewer and fewer people want to come here.  This is not the fault of immigrants or the free market, but government intervention.
