Libertarians have never been able to stop the criminalization of drugs or the welfare state, but that doesn't stop them from publishing their fantasies and pipe dreams to make us feel good, and more power to them. Yes, it would be nice if there were no drug addicts or people on welfare - the govt. apparatus would rust shut. In the meantime there's millions of both, and the govt. apparatus shows no signs of being dismantled. When it comes to Mexico, though, the #1 problem is not the recent rise of the drug and welfare cultures, but white supremacy, which back in 1848 caused the slave-owning U.S. to steal half of Mexico's territory for its whites-only country while leaving Mexico eternally dependent, and to subject Mexicans to de facto apartheid while whites were invited to immigrate from Europe en mass. 160 years later and the dysfunctional 2-state solution only magnifies problems such as drugs and welfare, but the latter aren't responsible for the basic problem that there should only be one state. To solve the U.S.-Mexico problem the U.S. must take the lead, end the apartheid and the white supremacist attitude behind it, and accept Mexicans as fellow citizens on the condition that they scrap their country and reorganize as several new U.S. states so pop. and resources can freely mix. Who cares about the English vs. Spanish issue in the Internet Age? With a phased approach, as Mexican territory is developed and millions of jobs created, even they will be able to handle the U.S. welfare apparatus, let's hope they don't go for the drugs like Americans did :) As new voters, Mexicans might actually become good Republicans and vote against more welfare at least. Next time your tell your reps to decriminalize drugs and vote against welfare, tell them to vote for the Megamerge Dissolution Solution. http://go.to/megamerge
