It is easy to forget that the true Americans were all those Native-Americans who inhabited this land prior to European invasion. Everyone post British/France/Spanish influence in the U.S. has roots that stretch to the old country. perhaps those constitutions should also be reviewed as well? This type of narrow "nationalistic" perspective will undoubtedly have an impact on U.S.'s ability to evolve.  Perhaps immigration policy should be directed towards countries who only speak English and have similarities with the nation's majority, but wouldn't this deprive U.S. the opportunity to produce better and improved nuclear arsenals. Globalization is here to stay and battles over land and dominance only take place in other parts of the world not in United States. There are reasons why the entire 14th Amendment was not ratified, maybe the cosmpolitan perspective of the U.S stayed behind in those eras and today the majority suffers from limited perspectives.
