I would urge the reader to seek out and read both the ENTIRE Gunter Grass criticism, and then the ENTIRE Itamar Yaoz-Kost response.  Many may be surprised. 

Herr Grass is starting to let the veneer wear through; to reveal the spit-polished jack-boots of his youth.

I believe Mr. Yaoz-Kost's musings are hypothetical, as it is fundamental to me that the Jewish People cannot be utterly destroyed by mortal man.  It is simply not within mankind's hands. 

That said, respecting the author's personal experiences to the contrary, I believe Moshe Dayan was correct that the proper stance of the Jew, towards his tormentors, is that of a Mad Dog... far too dangerous to screw around with.  Better to just leave him alone.

But I don't have to stand by and watch or ignore do I?  At least not allow my stolen tax money used to load them onto boxcars when the carrots to immigrate to Israel fail to concentrate all the Jews in one convenient spot.  First they came  for the Jews...First they came for the Palestinians...
