John Bossard
Dr. John Bossard is an innovator and mechanical engineer with expertise in the fields of fluid mechanics and heat transfer. He specializes in the conceptualization, analysis, design, fabrication, and testing of high energy-release-rate systems, specifically aerospace propulsion systems and combustion devices. Dr. Bossard supports commercial and government clients in the aerospace field through his company BSRD LLC. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, and is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Dr. Bossard is an expert on combined cycle engines, and specifically Turbine Based Combined Cycle (TBCC) engines, and has decades of experience in working with TBCC engines such as the Air Turbo Rocket (ATR) engine cycle. In 1999, he designed, built, and hot-fire tested the world’s first bi-propellant gas-generator cycle ATR.
But starting in 2011, he began work on a new TBCC engine concept, and has subsequently designed, built, and is
