Here’s the basic problem with being a Liberatarian
Many years ago, perhaps 40 or so I was a devout Liberatarian. Then, after many years of watching the shifts of the country from liberal to conservative and back and forth, I became aware that the people change their minds too quickly for the Government to react to. Now I am only suggesting that the information below be looked over. I don’t really have a point of view – other than one of - no “knee-jerk” reactions! Liberatarians are truly the most conservative one can get before one becomes an anarchist. Look over the info below and see if you want to live in a country that gives you a lot of safety and comfort features or do you want to forego these features and live without these guarantees of Capitalism when mixed with a Republic.
Here’s the basic problem with being a Liberatrian:
Capitalism and a Republic together (USA) do not operate in a vacuum. Capitalism requires feedback from the consumer in order to perpetuate wealth (Both domestically and internationally). A Republic only works when ( A republic is a state or country that is not led by a hereditary monarch or a dictator, and where the people of that state or country can affect the government by popular vote. A republic is a group of people that have the right to vote or choose their leaders.
The Liberatarian propaganda machine purports to have solutions to a complex government. Unfortunately the people who regard themselves as Liberatarians are many times simplistic and ignorant of their own needs. They believe that little or no government is the cure for corruption when in fact there are many Liberatarians who are also greedy and corrupt. Liberatiarians, for example who own weapons refer to these as second amendment rights – when in fact, some have assault weapons which weren’t even “dreamed of” when the forefathers created the second amendment. These WMD are, in fact, morally wrong and would be illegal if not for the “sick” NRA, a greedy, corrupt gun lobby that uses fear to control their constituents.
A free society is not an anarchy – which is basically what many Liberatarians are fighting for. Liberatarians forget that the roads they travel on to get to their rallies were constructed by “big government” Here is a list of “big government” programs that Liberatarians depend on in order to exist:
These are just a few of the complexities that Liberatarians take for granted. Try living in Mexico if you want to see what it’s like to have “dirty water” and/or government-free septic regulaions.
Of course the Federal Government needs to be trimmed down. Of course the Federal Government can be improved.
But to “throw out the baby with the bath water” is ridiculous and certainly dangerous.
Enough is Enough when Liberatarians begin to act like mature adults and find a way to improve the Federal Bureaucracy not destroy it. It is very important to have a bureaucracy when dealing with millions of people and thousands of problems daily.
Stop drawing similarities between the Arab countries and the US – there is no comparison. And finally – the monetary crisis began 60 years ago and will take at least 20 years or more to fix. Do something useful like offering to help your neighbor or volunteer to help the disadvantaged.

Saying the Second Amendment doesn't protect "assault weapons" was but one of the credibility-losing comments; in fact those are the ONLY firearms so protected. "Legitimate sporting weapons" are simply recreational tools and no more related to the Second Amendment than off-color limericks are to the First Amendment. The issue is one of the timeless balance of power between government and citizen - not some kind gesture to target shooters and deer hunters, allowing them to have their hobbies.
There are some well-written opinion pieces I simply disagree with, but this one doesn't even develop and support a coherent point of view, other than something along the lines of "the real world is so very complicated, that only a government run by self-anointed 'experts' can manage your life for you in an acceptable manner."
Yeah, right, Buddy.
I started losing interest when you demonstrated your being misinformed about the existence of a 'libertarian propaganda machine' :)
1. I am not a libertarian
2. Your commentary is wrought with error.
Libertarianism doesn't claim to be able to create a utopia. It merely argues against aggression by government. Things break, people get injured, sick and die, individuals or groups aggress against others for their own gain, such is the nature of life. Libertarianism merely suggests that we deal with these individually or through voluntary cooperation rather than through government coercion.
