High Demand - by Alan Korwin

Dear Editor,

We're all being sold a scam and it's right on Page One. "High Demand" (8/26/11, p.1)

Arizona is "breaking records for energy... warnings to conserve power... nearly all plants and lines in operation... Texas narrowly avoids rolling blackouts..."
Get it? Let me help you connect the dots.

We're borderline out of power, but our president has nixed plans for new coal-fired electric plants, our main source of electricity. He's saving us from... what exactly? The enviros are terrified of nuclear so that's not happening, wind power and solar will remain cute science projects for decades (when it's windy or sunny), hydro-power is maxed out.
So why is the media and industry promoting electric cars? Where's that juice supposed to come from? Make the national fleet to run off... power stations? OMG. It's a scam. Can't be done. But at least, government is pouring buckets of our cash into the makers' pockets. And the "news" media is right on board, gushing green-energy rechargeable tripe (just Google "Arizona Republic electric cars"). Cut the crud, connect the dots, inform the public.
