Good afternoon,

Sen. Paul has spent the past four hours on the Senate floor fighting attempts to ram through the USA PATRIOT Act extensions and urging Senate Democrat Leader Reid to keep his agreement to allow amendments and votes. While we are hopeful to get such an agreement soon, the hang-up right now appears to be over Sen. Paul’s amendment on gun rights.

The amendment, which Sen. Paul is insisting upon, would exempt certain gun records from USA PATRIOT Act rules and searches. It seems apparent this amendment is causing problems and holding up further amendments and votes. I will keep you updated as this situation develops.
