Whoever thought that they might be able to get a consensus of people's thinking, for marketing purposes, by viewing all the info they send and receive over the Net, must be pulling their hair out. These folks could have made more money playing the stock market.

Start decentralizing an Internet type system before the Net is shut down, using wireless, neighbor to neighbor, FREE networking.

I havbe no doubt that the free-market of ideas would supply an immediate replacement with Moon based relay stations with Ion cannons to protect them from the evil Empire. Or,... "that's no moon... it's a communication space station!"

I bet they do too! The Internet is far too anonymous, too distributed for big corporate monopolizing, and far to unrestrained for government comfort and repression.

The answer is ...

WWAN - cellular direct computer to computer

or better

Wi-Fi direct computer to computer. The equipment is already in all the new computers. All that is needed now is programming and signal strength amplification. Amplifiers are available. If the programming is, all it needs is the advertising.

Of course, then the only thing that COULD stop the "Internet" would be worldwide EMP.

Wireless would sure make Big Brother's job easier.

Would they seek to legislate the internet out of existence? Or would smaller private entities seek to keep it alive?
