While Georgia is no sterling example of Democracy, and is indeed guilty of many crimes against the people of South Ossetia and Akhazia,...none of this changes that Russia has been planning to invade and take back Georgia since it first split away in the early 90's. This is merely the culmination of that,...and thusly, Russia is the greater aggressor. They were running out of time time to get it done bfore Georgia joined NATO and made the prospect of recapture less possible,...so it was now or never.

Very simple, really.

Huh? Exactly what part of South Ossetia is within the boundaries of Russia? So it's OK for Canada to start giving residents of Vermont Canadian passports, and when the US government goes into Vermont to put down a civil insurrection, Canada sends in troops to support the Vemont separatists, and the US is the bad guy. Is this article a joke? (I'm serious).
