I am not surprised that he could quickly adapt to using the arm. But I do not believe external wires will ever be practical. They will ALWAYS get infected and need to be removed. Bacteria love a new home. Until they can bury electrodes beneath the skin that can communicate with devices across a barrier of skin, the lame will not walk artificially, nor will the amputated have mobile artificial limbs.
