is flexing political muscle outside its normal domain, with both
Democrats and Republicans courting its favor and avoiding its wrath on
issues that sometimes seem to have little to do with guns.

Expands agenda? I think Eric Lichtblau is twisting logic to support his agenda. He state's "issues that have little to do with guns." but then gives examples that all have to do with firearms. I would have to give up my journalism job if I thought my readers were that stupid & gullible.
