Sometimes it seems a week can't go by without the news carrying another story about an outrageous act perpetrated by someone in authority who must have left their commonsense at home before they left for work. You might remember some of these stories, or maybe they're all new to you. Regardless whether you heard them or not, they all bear repeating because they may be symptomatic of a society and culture in the early stages of a complete meltdown.
