This Foldable EV Makes Parking Easy

• http://www.wired.com, By Damon Lavrinc
Developed by the innovative team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the Armadillo-T is — at best — a car for running around a dense urban metropolis. It only seats two, has barely enough room for a baguette, and with a paltry 13.6 kWh battery good for a claimed 62-mile range and a top speed of just under 40 mph, you might be better off getting a scooter and two helmets.

But once you get out of the Armadillo, the 992-pound EV shrinks from 110 inches to 65 inches by folding its tail over its top. With Korea’s 16-foot parking spaces, that means you could fit three of these things into a single space — with a little help from your smartphone.

Once you pick a spot, get out and open up an app on your phone, you can fold the Armadillo and then park it remotely thanks to the super short wheelbase and four independently controlled wheels that can turn the EV 360 degrees on a postage stamp. Too bad it has the same shot at production as a hovercar.
