North Carolina Becomes First State to Cut Welfare Programs
• thelibertybeat.com North Carolina has decided to cut welfare benefits as a result of lack of federal funding during the partial government shutdown. The Department of Health and Human Services sent out a letter to its local offices ordering a halt to processing November applications until a deal is reached to end the federal standstill. The workers will continue to accept applications for the Work First program but will not process them until the shutdown ends.
