Many people seem to be constantly connected to smartphones, constantly sending messages back and forth. It may not be long before your car is doing the same thing.
Apple is developing a new generation of electronics that will bring smartphone capabilities to drivers. The system is called CarPlay. To use the new system, drivers will need an iPhone, which controls the display.
This design will allow drivers to safely make calls and send text messages. GPS functions, including maps, will be available, and it will even play music.
The new technology was premiered at an auto show in Geneva. Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari presented versions of CarPlay.
Google is developing their own smart car system, but this new system is more advanced than anything the internet giant has yet produced.
Greg Joswiak, vice president at Apple, said, "IPhone users always want their content at their fingertips and CarPlay lets drivers use their iPhone in the car with minimized distraction."
