Doctor Who’s Matt Smith has been cast in the franchise’s rebooted movie trilogy, in what Deadline describes as “a major role that will grow in the second and third films.”

Smith joins a cast that includes Emilia Clarke (aka Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones) as the tough-as-nails Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as her techno-messianic son John, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger as an “aged” Terminator. But who will Smith play in the series’ first film Terminator: Genesis? The Magic 8 Ball is still hazy, but Paramount Pictures said in a statement “Smith will play a new character with a strong connection to John Connor.”
