Maine Civic Hack Day ( http://civichack.me ) was a 30 hour hackathon in Bangor Maine. Participants worked to provide solutions to various civic problems.
Inspired by http://bitcoinnotbombs.com a drone was modified to drop bitcoin wallets on a crowd for an planned event at the Porcupine Freedom Festival ( http://porcfest.com ) in late June 2014.
The bitcoin disbursement mechanism was designed and 3D printed during the 30 hour event. The bitcoin drop was a success although the craft suffered massive trauma when it ran into the ceiling. Drones are safer to fly outdoors, and the craft needed some retuning to accommodate the addition weight and center of gravity shift.
