The Answer to Sen. Rand Paul's One Question Leads Him to Vote Against the 'Big Beautiful Bil
• https://ronpaulinstitute.org, by Adam DickOn the Senate floor on Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul, one of the Republican legislators who has resisted this pressure, presented a speech explaining that the answer to one question leads him to vote "no" on the bill.
Paul, in his Senate floor speech, said the bill more correctly termed the "Big Not-so-beautiful Bill" is assured to significantly increase the deficit next year, even using the calculations promoted by the bill's proponents. As is often the case with congressional legislation, explained Paul further, the promised savings from the bill come later in ten years of projections. But, continued Paul, history show that the early overspending does occur and the later savings do not materialize.
Starting off his speech, Paul stated:
In deciding whether to vote for the 'Big Not-so-beautiful Bill,' I've asked a very specific question: Will the deficit be more or less next year? The answer, without question, is this bill will grow the deficit.
