Libertarian
Hello Mr. Hancock,
My name is Andrew W. and I
am not a seasoned Libertarian (you could say I'm rather wet-behind-the-ears.)
But, the strong anti-State stances that characterizes the Libertarian Party
encouraged me to join and change my voter affiliation.
However, in my
short time as a Libertarian, I have noticed (both in real-time and in my
research of the Party) that there seems to be a movement to "neuter" the Party.
That is, make it more "friendly" by "watching what we say." This movement scares
me.
I was wondering if you had any intent to run for LP nomination in
2012?
I was also wondering if I could get more recent comment about this
apparent movement than what appears on your website.

Careful what you ask
for :)
Once you start down
that rabbit hole you’ll be busy for a while.
A political party is
a… political party. It’s the philosophy that insulates libertarians from
party/political/vote seeking Libertarians.
Sooner or later there
is always an effort to get hold of a popular movement’s figurehead/shiny
badge/scepter and bend it to the will of those that just won’t leave alone those
that just wish to be left alone.
It really isn’t any
more complicated than that…. The rest is just a bunch of names. (if you seek
stories, I’m sure that almost any libertarian party organization in any state
can lead you to the core of the conversation… I don’t pay that much
attention.
By the 2012 Election
Cycle, the World Economy is going to be teaching the population of the planet
far more than I could as a candidate. I can’t imagine a scenario that doesn’t
have me learning as much as I can about surviving what is coming with my family
and humanity in tact.

I surely appreciate your candor. It is quite refreshing, actually. In all honesty, I expected a form letter response. So, it pleased me to actually read honest words.
So, I guess what I see as a movement within a political party, is actually just the normal progression of what political parties are.
Again, I do appreciate your honesty and taking time to respond. It's actually more than I've gotten from the current leadership with the LP.
I wish you and your family the best of luck in the coming years because, I do agree, we're in for quite a ride.
