In anticipation of President Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress this evening, the Center for Individual Freedom released a new video entitled "ObamaCare and America's Entitlement Kids," which highlights the fundamental flaws in President Obama's plan to reform health care.
The video points out that U.S. spending obligations for current entitlements, including Medicare and Social Security, is already more than $51 trillion. Broken down by household, that's the equivalent of forcing every American family to bear the costs of raising two additional children.
But instead of fixing the entitlement problem, President Obama's health care plan would add an additional $9 trillion in entitlement obligations. That's like adding one-third of another government child to the two each American household is already forced to support.

Lest anyone doubt the communist leanings of President Barack Obama, look no
further than to his decision to hoist the Red Chinese flag (for the first
time in history) over the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C.,
on Sunday, September 20.

applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President's residence to

The Legal Services Corp., a congressionally chartered, taxpayer-funded entity, even hired a law firm to rebuff the efforts of workers in its oversight offices to gain union representation by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), forcing the workers to conduct a vote by secret ballot later this week.
The LSC's decision has prompted concerns on Capitol Hill that the government may be trying to impose a solution on private businesses that its own agencies and panels are reluctant to follow.

Reporter Dan Harris asserted “the conservative echo chamber is not new, but,” he fretted, “this White House is operating in a vastly accelerated media environment where you no longer need to be in the presence of reporters to make news, as we saw with the health care furor at those town hall meetings.” Journalistic veteran Tom Rosenstiel marveled: “Today you can arrange that protest yourself, photograph it with a hand-held cell phone, and if you can then generate enough views of that video on YouTube, you can make something into national news.” That's because, Harris insisted, “the mainstream media

Only 75 percent of Democrats, who formerly have supported Obama strongly, now approve of his performance in office. Zogby reports that this represents a slide of more than 10 points over the summer.
Even among blacks, only 74 percent approve of the job he's doing (also a drop of more than 10 points).
Hispanics, who voted for him by a margin of more than 40 points, now break even (36-36) when rating his performance.

U.S. Rep. Paul Broun is again raising the specter of Democrats turning the United States into a totalitarian state.
Broun, R-Athens, apparently has not changed his belief that President Obama may be a fascist since he made similar remarks in Augusta in November and then in an Associated Press interview.
He told a meeting of the Morgan County Republicans on Wednesday night that Obama already has or will have the three things he needs to make himself a dictator: a national police force, gun control and control over the press.
"He has the three things that are necessary to establish an authoritarian government," Broun said. "And so we need to be ever-vigilant, because freedom is precious."
Consider Mr. Bernanke's track record against his stated goals as Fed chairman. In opposition to his predecessor, Alan Greenspan, Bernanke said that he would communicate clearly and openly with the investment community. This, he said, would remove an element of uncertainty for investors.

Feinberg’s first task is to review proposed compensation plans from the seven U.S. banks still taking part in the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The banks have to submit plans for their top 25 highest paid employees. Some of the institutions submitting proposals are American International Group (NYSE: AIG), Citigroup (NYSE: C) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).
There is also an interesting question of conflict of interest. Three of the firms submitting proposals to him are clients of his law firm. However, in legal filings Feinberg was listed as a court appointed neutral mediator and did not represent the firms in any way.

A tax policy expert says President Obama has reneged on his promise to keep his economic "stimulus" plan transparent and free of earmarks.
The Associated Press reports that Senators Max Baucus (D-Montana) and John Tester (D-Montana) persuaded the Obama administration to award $15 million in federal stimulus money to a Montana checkpoint along the Canadian border that serves only three people a day. A similar checkpoint in North Dakota, which serves about 73 people a day, is also getting $15 million for renovations.
Meanwhile, a border checkpoint in Laredo, Texas -- which serves more than 55,000 travelers and 4,200 trucks a day in an area that is a hotbed of illegal immigration and drug trafficking -- was passed over for stimulus money.

Paul Krugman is trying to have it both ways when it comes to the deficit. On the one hand, he says it isn't a big problem, and that we can afford a lot more spending. On the other hand, he says if there is a problem it's all Bush's fault -- which may be true, but that doesn't change the current reality.
