The Cato Institute is seeking to hire a scholar to study and critique federal spending policies. The expert would examine particular spending programs and overall spending levels through studies, op-eds, blogs, media appearances, and contributions to DownsizingGovernment.org. He or she would participate in panel discussions, give speeches, and meet with policymakers to discuss possible budget reforms.
Candidates for the position should have strong research, writing, and communication skills. They should also have a strong commitment to the principles of individual liberty, economic freedom, and small government. Degrees in economics or public policy would be preferred, as would experience examining the federal budget gained on Capitol Hill, think tanks, or other positions.
Compensation and title will be commensurate with ability and experience. This is a full-time position in the Cato Institute’s office in Washington, D.C.
