International Day of Solidarity with Palestine

by Stephen Lendman

International solidarity with Palestinians is commemorated on November 29 - when General Assembly members in 1947 passed Res. 181, the Palestine Partition Plan against the will of its majority population.

It granted 56% of historic Palestine's most valued land to Jews (with one-third of the population), 42% to Palestinians, Jerusalem designed an international city under a UN Trusteeship Council, including the entire city, Bethlehem and Beit Sahour, encompassing area holy sites.

The resolution called for an independent Palestinian state by October 1, 1948 - never achieved, Israel defiantly opposed to this day - wanting all Judea and Samaria for itself, Palestinians at most confined to isolated bantustans on worthless scrubland, victimized by Israeli state terrorism.

Regional peace is impossible without justice for long-suffering Palestinians, brutalized by a ruthless occupier - the world's leading exponent of state terror along with its US paymaster.

Thirty years after the UN's Palestine Partition Plan, General Assembly members adopted a resolution, proclaiming November 29 the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

UN Res. 181 authorized creation of two states side-by-side in peace, Israel alone created, Palestinian rights ignored. A permanent state of war exists against its people - from 1947 to this day, world community nations one-sidedly supporting Israel, a festering outrage demanding responsible resolution, above all granting Palestinians self-determination, free from vicious Israeli occupation.

On November 29, Syrians commemorated solidarity with long-suffering Palestinians in Damascus - highlighting "Intifada till Victory" at the National Museum.

Al-Quds International Organization Board of Trustees chairwoman, close Assad advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban urged Arab historians, intellectuals and jurists to document Zionist criminality. ISIS and other takfiri terrorists operate like pre-1948 Israeli criminal gangs, committing horrendous atrocities.

"We are witnessing a day in which new chapter of history is being written, a chapter different from the one that we have lived since we were born," Shaaban explained.

Evidence shows Washington complicit with Israel, Turkey and other rogue partners wage aggression against Syria, ravaging other regional countries.

Shaaban saluted Palestinian martyrs, struggling valiantly for fundamental freedoms they're denied. "Today we are all one and we must survive together" against a powerful evil force vital to vanquish, she stressed.

Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi called Palestine's ongoing intifada against Israeli ruthlessness proof of the resilient Palestinian identity and determination to one day live free.

Syria is vilified unjustly for supporting their cause, he added, expressing pride in being on the right side of history. War on Palestine is part of the plot against Syria, he stressed, ISIS and other terrorist groups allied with Zionists supporting them.

Syrians and Palestinians are united in a common struggle for peace and freedom from imperial domination.
