Raging US Media War on Venezuela

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Establishment media never met a US war of aggression, color revolution, or old-fashioned coup against a sovereign state they didn't wholeheartedly endorse and cheerlead.

Deploring democracy the way it should be at home and abroad, while pretending otherwise, they support Trump regime efforts to crush the real thing in Venezuela.

They're waging propaganda war against the country and democratically elected and reelected President Maduro, supporting Trump regime designated puppet/usurper in waiting Guaido, a pathetic figure with no legitimacy - reviled by most Venezuelans.

In response to Russia sending around 100 military personnel and equipment to Venezuela days earlier, a show of support for and solidarity with Bolivarian sovereignty, the NYT turned truth on its head, accusing Moscow of "exacerbating political tension," adding:

Their arrival "set off alarms that the Kremlin might be acting more brazenly to protect President Nicolas Maduro from the uprising against him (sic)."

Fact: No "uprising" exists." Since Guaido illegally self-declared himself interim president, following orders from his US handlers, the Times ignored and continues ignoring a brazen Trump regime coup plot to topple Maduro and end Bolivarian democracy.

The Times: "Members of Venezuela's opposition have accused Mr. Maduro of escalating the country's deepening political crisis."

"They have pointed to widespread irregularities during the last election, consider Mr. Maduro's government illegitimate and have asked him to step down and to allow them to call new elections."

Fact: As usual, the Times has things backwards. Political crisis conditions were made in the USA. No irregularities occur in any Venezuelan elections, its system what model democracy is all about - absent in the West, especially in the money-controlled US.

The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post quoted Pompeo warning Sergey Lavrov that the Trump regime "will not stand idly by" if Russia continues to send military forces to aid Maduro, its legitimate right when invited, WaPo adding:

"US frustration with the situation has grown as efforts to persuade the Venezuelan military to switch sides and support Guaido have produced few results."

WaPo failed to explain that most Venezuelans support Bolivarian social democracy. Guaido is increasingly reviled, his minority support waning.

WaPo lied claiming Venezuela's "military and pro-Maduro paramilitary groups (sic) have escalated the use of force against the Guaido supporters."

Venezuelan security forces act against US-orchestrated violence and other disruptive actions, protecting ordinary people, doing their job responsibly.

A three-paragraph Wall Street Journal editorial headlined "Russia's Venezuelan Power Play" accused Putin of "testing Trump by sending troops to back up Maduro."

Claiming US regional stakes are "rising," it turned truth on its head, calling genuine democrat Maduro a "dictator." Pompeo's Big Lie was quoted, saying "insertion of Russian military personnel (risks) prolonging the suffering of the Venezuelan people who overwhelmingly support" Guaido (sic).

Journal editors: "This Russian military provocation is in America's backyard, and the Trump (regime) will have to do more in response than issue statements or phone calls of disapproval."

Maduro is "spreading millions of refugees and havoc throughout the region (sic). President Trump needs to decide if he is going to let Mr. Putin get away with it."

Trump regime hardliners and Journal editors are increasingly frantic over failure to topple Maduro after weeks of trying.
