40 Years of US War on Iran by Other Means

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

All sovereign nations independent of US control are on its target list for regime change — what the scourge of its imperial rage is all about, humanity's greatest threat.

Iran is Washington's No. one target in the oil-rich Middle East, seeking control over its world's third and second largest oil and natural gas reserves respectively.

That's what decades of illegal US sanctions are all about, escalated by the Trump regime to economic terrorism and other hostile actions.

In November, Iranian security forces put down days of riots, violence, vandalism, and chaos with US dirty hands all over them.

On Friday, Iran's Intelligence Ministry personnel seized foreign-supplied arms in Kermanshah province's Javanroud.

Days earlier, US-made weapons were seized in Isfahan, Iranian officials saying they were smuggled into the country ahead of November riots — to be used by CIA recruited thugs.

Assault rifles, pellet guns, other firearms, and live rounds were confiscated.

Iranian Col. Ali Oomian said a terrorist cell was discovered by IRGC intelligence and busted last week, arrests made.

In early December, Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) secretary Ali Shamkhan said security forces foiled a plot to cause mass casualties during November riots — US dark forces wanting Tehran falsely blamed for CIA-orchestrated deaths and destruction.

In response to a day's earlier rocket attack, killing a US private military contractor on a Pentagon base near Kirkuk, Iraq, wounding US military personnel, hardline US Senator Tom Cotton threatened Iran, tweeting:

"If American blood was shed by an Iran-backed group, Tehran ought to face swift and severe consequences."

Iran had nothing to do with what happened, the US yet to assign blame, reportedly focusing on Iraqi militants falsely linked to Iran.

In mid-December, Pompeo falsely blamed Iran for earlier rocket attacks on Pentagon bases in Iraq, threatening retaliation if US personnel and allies are killed or injured.

No evidence links Iran to hostile regional actions — US, NATO, Israeli, Saudi, UAE specialties, along with terrorist proxies they support.

With Bolton gone, Pompeo is the Trump regime's lead Iran basher, his remarks consisting of a litany of bald-faced Big Lies fooling no one but the uninformed.

Last month, he falsely called Iran "the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism" — the dubious distinction applying to the US, NATO and Israel, partners in high crimes of war, against humanity, and other hostile actions against peace, stability, and the rule of law.

Discussing Iran in mid-December, he shamefully called the world's most egregious human rights abuser USA "the world's greatest champion of liberty (sic)."

He falsely blamed Iranian authorities for CIA-orchestrated riots in the country last month.

He lied accusing Tehran of "den(ying) (Iranians) basic fundamental human dignity — a US global high crime, going on domestically as well against anti-war and human rights activists, along with journalists and whistleblowers for exposing US high crimes.

He turned truth on its head, claiming Iran "is desperate to control ideas, to control speech, and, indeed, to control life itself" — what increasing US tyranny is all about.

He lied accusing Tehran authorities of "intimidati(ng) elderly family members of Iranian journalists" — ignoring US war on investigative journalist Julian Assange, heroic whistleblower Chelsea Manning, and others like them, imprisoned for doing the right thing.

He falsely accused Iran of "disrespect for its people (sic)," shamefully calling the country "a pariah state in the eyes of freedom-loving people all across the world."

Clearly his remark applies to the US, its key NATO allies, Israel, and their rogue partners in high crimes, not the Islamic Republic, the region's leading proponent of peace and stability — notions the US abhors.

Pompeo lied accusing Iran of religious persecution — a US specialty, waging war on Islam pre-and-post 9/11.

No nation in world history committed more high crimes of war and against humanity over a longer duration than the US.

Tens of millions of corpses attest to its barbarism. The same goes for its world's largest gulag prison system — filled with thousands of political prisoners at home and abroad, abused and otherwise mistreated for their beliefs.

Pompeo has 2024 presidential ambitions. He's considering a Kansas Senate run in November, a platform to launch a White House campaign if elected.

The possibility of him in the nation's highest office should terrify everyone.

Reportedly former Trump regime UN envoy Nikki Haley has similar ambitions.

The choice between them as US president would be like facing death by hanging or firing squad.
